How to Check If Address is in the CDFI Approved Area

Here is how to determine whether an address is located within a CDFI Approved Area using ExpandCU Mapping.

Note on Terminology: A CDFI Approved Area refers to a CDFI Investment Area-qualified Census Tract, or IA for short.

  1. Sign into CUCollaborate.
  2. In the left-hand navigation bar, select ExpandCU, then Mapping.
  3. Click on the Add Layer icon to open the Mapping menu.
  4. Select the CDFI category, then choose either Census Tracts 2010 or 2020 to add a layer.

  1. The CDFI Approved Areas (IAs) appear as green-shaded Census Tracts, while Non-Approved Areas are shaded in red.
  2. Hover over the tracts to display their numbers, if needed.
  3. Click the magnifying glass in the top-right corner of the map to open the search field. Enter an address in the search bar and press Enter. If multiple addresses appear, hover over the desired one. A dark blue "Pick this address" icon will appear on the right.

  1. Click it to display the specific address on the map. Zoom in to determine if the address is located within a CDFI Approved Area (indicated by a green-shaded Census Tract).

Please reach out to your Account Manager with any questions or for further assistance in determining if an address is located within a CDFI Approved Area.
